K-Bar Warthog destruction test completed:
Cutting:The Warthog cuts very well out of the box easily slicing an orange and peeling an apple. It mad some razor thin slices from the apple.
Chopping: Is not very good with its short blade and it's light weight. It will chop but requires a lot of effort and energy to do so.
Splitting: Was easy on smaller diameter 2x4s but with it's short blade length wouldn't handle a 4x4.
Metal: I cut the top off of a acetone can very easily dulling the blade. It was still able to cut the 10,000 pound webbing all though it took a lot of effort.
Prying: I pryed 1/4" nailed plywood. Removing if from it's frame. Then tried to pry 2 2x4s screwed together I really flexed the blade during this. The tip bent slightly at one point. I reversed the blade and bent it back straight.
Flexing: The tip broke at about 25 degrees.
Concrete: The blade tackled this fine never chipping out just denting the rear part of the edge became slightly deformed.
Hammering: I hammered the Back of the blade many times. even though the blade is very thin this was no problem for the knife. I hammered it tip first into concrete splitting the bricks just as I did with the Strider BT. The Warthog tip never bent or failed during this.
Overall the K-bar Warthog is a good cutting, hammering, prying ,tough workhouse. The only downside is it' lack of chopping abilities. Also it has a fantastic Kydex sheath..
